Summary: The U.S. National Committee for the International Union of Biological Sciences (USNC/IUBS) serves as the focal point of U.S. participation in the IUBS, a scientific union member of the International Council for Science (ICSU). The USNC/IUBS works to promote international collaboration in the biological sciences by working with professional societies in the United States to encourage U.S. scientists to participate in international activities The International Union of Biological Sciences is a non-governmental, non - profit organization with the objectives to: -promote the study of biological sciences; -initiate and facilitate research and other scientific activities necessitating international, interdisciplinary cooperation; -ensure the discussion and dissemination of the results of cooperative research, particularly in connection with IUBS scientific programs; -support the organization of international conferences and assist in the publication of their reports.
