International Commission on Optics (ICO) (Affiliated Commission of IUPAP)


Summary: The U.S. Advisory Committee for the International Commission for Optics (USAC/ICO) represents the interests of the U.S. optics community in ICO, which coordinates the worldwide diffusion of scientific and technical knowledge in the field. ICO is an affiliated commission of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), a member union of the International Council for Science (ICSU). USAC/ICO actively involves U.S. scientific and professional optics societies in ICO activities, such as the ICO triennial Congress and outreach to developing countries. The USAC/ICO has also developed new initiatives, such as the Traveling Lecturer Award, to foster collaborations and enhance outreach efforts. The overall goal of the USAC/ICO is to promote the advancement of optical science and technology worldwide and to strengthen U.S. contributions to the international optical communities.
