Board on African Science Academy Development

Summary: The National Academies recently initiated a program to assist African science academies in strengthening their capability to provide scientifically grounded guidance to policy-makers and the public. The 10-year initiative, funded by a generous grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will focus on health-related issues. The program will assist nationally based academies and will enhance regionlal cooperation by strengthening networking among African academies.
