Lead in the Americas: A Call for Action (1996)

Summary: The participants in this conference came to two general conclusions. The first was definite and specific: lead exposure, it its various forms, should be reduced or eliminated throughout the countries of the Americas. The second was flexible and general: the preferred approaches to preventing lead poisoning will vary from country to country depending on the kinds of exposure that exist and the social, political, and economic circumstances of the local environment. An action plan is described that provides generic guidelines for national efforts to prevent lead poisoning that allow for adaptation in each country.
