Global Policy Summit on the Role of Performance-Based Building Regulations in Addressing Societal Expectations, International Policy, and Local Needs


Summary: This event took place at the National Academy of Science in Washington, DC, during November 3-5, 2003. The purpose was to understand potential impacts that the transition to performance-based building regulatory systems could have on society, the regulatory environment, and the construction industry. Participants included national, state, and local officials. Topics addressed included the Role of Building Regulations in Meeting Expectations, Demographic and Urban Issues, and Performance-based Building Regulation in Practice.
