Summary: This circular contains the papers presented at a special session of the Traffic Safety on Two Continents International Conference, held in The Hague, The Netherlands, on September 23, 1993. The presentations discuss the significant worldwide reduction over the past decade in the incidence of drinking and driving and the reasons for it in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and the United States. Also contained in this circular are a summary of a paper prepared by colleagues from France describing what occurred in their country and a summary of the general discussion that followed the formal presentations.
